Wednesday, May 27, 2020 Writing Wednesday! Please write about your favorite memory of 2nd Grade. You might write about raising monarchs, building towers & bridges, learning about rocks, money, having art class, practicing spelling words with shaving cream, or playing with a buddy at recess. These are just a few ideas, but maybe you can think of a different one. Write about one of your favorite memories. You can read it aloud if you want. IXL-Practice for at least 20 minutes Check out Bookflix and take an "AR" Test ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tuesday, May 26, 2020 This is your last week of homework. I've been busy entering stuff for your third grade teachers. Mr. Hemphill asked us to write notes about each one of you since you started learning from home. I encourage you to finish strong this week with "AR" testing and IXL. We beat Mrs. Henderson's Class by a lot last week, and it would be awesome to do it again. I included a measurement activity and reading passage with questions. Good Luck and work hard this short week. __________________________________________
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Please write a few sentences about your Memorial Day weekend and share them with us on Seesaw. We love hearing from our students. Next Friday will be our last day of school. We really appreciate all the hard work many of you have kept up with.
We will keep you posted about our Pool Party this summer.
Mrs. Henderson and I just compared notes a little while ago. My class is way ahead on "AR" testing this week, but it's only because 5 kids have taken tests this week and went above and beyond. Mrs. Henderson has twice as many testing, but my five kids go above and beyond. These five students and the number of words they have read and tested over this week are listed below. I believe they need to be recognized for my class doing so well these last few weeks. Results so far this week: Rebecca: 60,829 Reggie: 45,431 Colton: 21,678 Moriah: 3,476 Will: 1,822.***This grand total is 133,236*** I really hope this gets a few others to read and test before tomorrow. We have books on Epic, Bookflix, and even just books from home. Lots of "AR" books out there!!! I'll check tomorrow night around 8:00 p.m. to see if I have any other readers out there! I sure hope so!!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wednesday, May 20,2020
I sent a couple measurement activities on Seesaw. I can't wait to see how you do on them. Remember, this is our last math unit. I know you'll do a great job! Hopefully you can find a ruler around the house.
Please read and test on an "AR" book. Many of you have been taking lots of tests daily. Keep up the great work!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday, May 19, 2020 This is your last day with tables and graphs. Please do IXL letter R and numbers 5,6,11,12. Next try our last second grade skill for the year. You can practice measurement on letter S numbers 2 & 3. Your parents will have to remind you that 12 inches equals one foot. If you want to find items around your house and post them on a video, I will share the video with your friends. Try to find toys or other objects that are one foot. Last, please do the writing activity about your favorite animal on Seesaw. I can't wait to hear from you!!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday, May 14, 2020 Keep reading and doing IXL on Thursday because we let Mr. Hemphill know who our top students are for the week. Remember, it's ok to do third grade work if your parents think you are ready for the challenge. Today we sent some Seesaw activities for you to try. Keep up with your short daily assignments to make your teachers proud! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope you got to spend some time outside for Earth Day.
On Thursday you can practice the spelling words on Spelling City list #29.
If you are having trouble finding our list, search for South Hamilton Homepage and click on Gail George. Your child can go to my weebly page from there. Then go to more.........and you'll find spellingcity.
The students can sort the words into different lists. I always enjoy seeing their ideas. Ask yourself what these words have in common. Is the vowel long or short on your spelling words?
I'd also love to see some writing too. Please have your second grader write about their favorite thing they did this week. Please post this on Seesaw.
Last, be sure to keep reading! We will check the word count on Thursday night to see which class has read more words this week. We will also check the IXL minutes between the two second grade classes.

We would also like you to watch the Mystery Doug video. After you do these fun activities, please go outside and do something to help our Earth. We usually clean up the school grounds on Earth Day, so please help out at home. You can pick up garbage, clean flower beds, pick up sticks, or find things to be recycled. Use your imagination because these are just a few. We would love to see pictures of you helping our Earth.
